“At the suggestion of Dr. Brie, I recently took the Boston Heart Test, and I'm really glad I did. We had previously seen my cholesterol moving up quite significantly, which was concerning, my mother also had high cholesterol. We decided to do a deeper dive to better understand these numbers. So, I took the Boston Heart test.

While some of the medical terminology was a bit over my head, Dr. Brie thoroughly reviewed everything with me. I learned that certain aspects of my cholesterol are inherited and fixed, meaning no matter how healthy I eat—if I lived on just carrots and water—those particular numbers wouldn’t change. However, other numbers could be improved with better diet and exercise. Dr. Bree also recommended that I start on a statin, because of the numbers that lifestyle changes alone wouldn't improve.

During our 30-45 minute discussion, Dr. Brie also went over additional information included in the test. There are these good sweepers (again, the medical language is rather complex) - which I have a healthy number of. Yeah sweepers! I thought before our meeting that it would be a rather grim meeting, filled with difficult news. But, it was a wide view and there are ways in which my body is functioning well - some not so well.

But we have medications and I have had no side effects from the meds. She also suggested some supplements, targeted at the heart issue. We also included a genetic test that would reveal if I had a predisposition to Alzheimer’s. She went into these genes, and what means what. Dr Brie provided a follow up summary of the meeting in the portal.

I’m so grateful for Dr. Brie's thorough, informative, super deep-dive approach. She always takes the time to explain everything in detail, and I appreciate her so much!”
